Impacts of global warming on Peruvian ocean stratification and its implications
[Details of award-winning research]
In this study, we investigated the previously unknown changes in the marine environment off the coast of Peru due to global warming using ocean reanalysis data. As a result, we found that although stratification is strengthened off the coast of Peru due to global warming, coastal upwelling is strengthened, particularly in the northern part of the country, and water temperatures near the sea surface are on a downward trend.![]()
